Equal Measure Festival: February 25th, 2024
Our annual "Equal Measure Festival" is when we celebrate composers from historically excluded groups. The Equal Measure project seeks to challenge the long history of systemic sexism and racism which exists in classical music and change it. We do this by working with our students and normalizing female, transgender, and BIPOC composers in the repertoire we teach and perform, and showing our students that this music should be a part of the professional repertoire as well. All the music in all three events will be by composers from historically excluded groups.
This year's festival will feature two student recitals and a professional concert of amazing music. All events are free and open to the public.
