Bursary Programs
Students from low-income households are able to apply for a bursary to supplement the cost of music lessons. We have two bursary programs, the EVCMS Bursary for instrumentalists and the Nicky Stowell Bursary for singers.

Frequently Asked Questions
1. Who are the teachers?
Highly trained and experienced professionals that live and teach in the Vancouver area. All of our faculty members pass a criminal record check and are trusted members of our community. Check out our Faculty page for biographies.
2. Does the school provide in-home lessons?
Some of our teachers provide in home lessons when they are able. Please inquire for availability. Some teachers also teach online.
3. What is the EVCMS Bursary Program and how are successful applicants chosen?
The Bursary program allows us to provide music lessons at subsidized rates to students from low income households. Successful applicants are chosen based on their commitment to their musical studies and a demonstration of their financial need.
4. How does one apply for the Bursary Program?
By filling out the application form and submitting it to music@evcms.ca. The form is available here.
5. Where is the school located?
The School is currently operating as a teacher’s collective where lessons are taught at teacher’s individual studios or at students homes. We would love to have a space of our own but renting commercial property in Vancouver isn't affordable for us at this time. We're working on it though! If you agree that we need more secular, affordable arts & culture space in Vancouver, please tell your city council members.
6. How can I help? Where can I make a donation?
You can help our society grow by becoming a voting member, volunteering on our Board of Directors, telling your friends and family about us, making a donation, or promoting us on social media. You can make a donation by sending an e-transfer to music@evcms.ca, dropping off cash or a cheque at any of our events, with a donation on Paypal or contact us to make other arrangements. We would be most grateful for your support.
7. Can I get a tax receipt for my donation?
Unfortunately registered non-profits cannot issue tax deductible receipts for donations until they also have registered charitable status. However, we can provide a receipt for music lessons (available at request).
8. Can we come to your events?
Absolutely! You can come to any of our recitals as long as you are a respectful audience member (no talking or making noise while people are performing). Our community is a welcoming and accepting environment for all individuals regardless of race, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, or religious affiliation.
