Join us this October 29th for our annual Halloween Costume Cabaret! This recital is extra fun as most of us dress up in our costumes to perform our (sometimes very spooky) music!
Students and their families will be able to join us in-person at
Trinity Grace Memorial Church (803 East 16th Avenue, Vancouver BC).
Our Celebrate Canada Music Festival will be on November 19th, 2023. We are excited to announce that our composer in residence this year is the incredible Jennifer Butler!

This year's festival will feature two student performances and a faculty concert.
Events will be live-streamed on Youtube and a limited number of individuals will be able to join us in-person at Trinity Grace Memorial Church (803 East 16th Avenue, Vancouver BC).
All are welcome to attend, the festival is free to attend and participate in.

Each school year the EVCMS hosts several student recitals. We have a Halloween Costume Recital in October, Celebrate Canada Music Festival in November, and year-end recitals in June.

Beethoven's Birthday Bash ~ December 2020
We celebrated the end of 2020 with a celebration of Beethoven's music. Our students played a number of his compositions as well as those by other composers who were influenced by Beethoven. We had a lot of fun!
Halloween Costume Cabaret ~ October 2020
We couldn't let the pandemic cancel Halloween for our students, so we held our annual costume recital (with lots of spooky music) online this year!

Celebrate Canada Music Day ~ November 2019
The East Vancouver Community Music School held its fifth annual Celebrate Canada Music Day on November 24th, 2019 - our most amazing CCMD yet! This year we had the great pleasure of hosting Juno Award winning composer Jocelyn Morlock for an incredible composition workshop and student recital. Elysian Trio, Vivian Chen (harp), Paul Hung (flute), and Sarah Kwok (viola), performed a stunning concert of Canadian repertoire.

We like our students to have fun when they perform. Our annual Halloween recital gives kids the chance to perform dressed in their costume and of course they get a goodie bag of candy after the recital!!

Every spring, our faculty and students share our love of music with the residents at Villa Carital Seniors Home. It is always fun for everyone, the seniors always enjoy watching the young children play, the students get an appreciative audience, and the faculty get cappuccinos!!
Celebrate Canada Music Day ~ November 2018
The East Vancouver Community Music School is proud to have hosted its fourth annual Celebrate Canada Music Day, a one day festival to celebrate the beauty and diversity of Canadian music on Sunday November 18th, at 303 east 8th avenue Vancouver. All activities were free and open to the public, sponsored by the City of Vancouver and Metro Vancouver.

Every spring we have a community outreach student recital at the Villa Carital Seniors Centre. We would like to thank our students for the wonderful performances and our faculty for all of their hard work preparing students and accompanying them. Here are a few pictures from our 2018 recital:
Celebrate Canadian Music Day ~ November 2017
The East Vancouver Community Music School hosted our third annual Celebrate Canadian Music Day: a full day of interactive music making, free and fun for the whole family. Attendees had the opportunity to try their hand at composing and experience a guided tour of Canada's musical landscape with local composer John Oliver. Our music students performed a varied program of Canadian compositions, then cellist Peggy Lee, clarinettist Francois Houle, and violinist Josh Zubot performed a colourful concert of Canadian works. Thank you everyone for your incredible music!
Spring Benefit Concert ~ May 2017
On May 5th, 2017 the East Vancouver Community Music School hosted its first annual Spring Benefit Concert to raise money for their Bursary Fund. We were blessed to have so many of our faculty members perform as well as amazing guest performers from The Fictionals Comedy Co., Francois Houle performed a stunning set of contemporary clarinet music (click here to watch his amazing performance), and the Ruffled Feathers performed several of their beautiful, original songs.
Celebrate Canadian Music Day ~ November 2016
The EVCMS is excited to have hosted their second annual Celebrate Canadian Music Day: a full day of interactive music making, free and fun for the whole family. On November 20th 2016, attendees had an opportunity to try their hand at composing* and experience a guided tour through the history of Canadian Music with host Ian Hampton, Vancouver music students, and Tiresias Duo - Mark McGregor (flute) and Rachel Iwaasa (piano).
Festivals and Recitals ~ 2016
We encourage our students to share their musical gifts with each other at regular student recitals throughout the year as well as community events such as the South Hill Festival and Car Free Day. We also organize an outreach concert once a year at the Villa Carital Seniors Center.
